Presentation: Planning and Scaling AI Big Bets to Deliver Cash Flow Savings While Dealing with Multiple Disruptions: Lessons from GE Healthcare
Session Title: Planning and Scaling AI Big Bets to Deliver Cash Flow Savings While Dealing with Multiple Disruptions: Lessons from GE Healthcare
Session Description:
Data Science at GE Healthcare took a finance-first lens to implement simulation-based optimization methods to test, validate, and scale AI use cases to manage inventory. Learn how the team implemented digital twin models tightly coupled with forecasting models and leveraged it to partner with operating teams across commercial, finance, and supply chain to optimize supply chain decisions.
Speaker: Samuel Colen, VP, AI Forecasting, GE Healthcare

Sam ColenVP, Head of ForecastingGE HealthCareSam Colen is Vice President, Head of Forecasting at GE HealthCare, where he built and leads a decision intelligence team that turns planning into a financial lever. Partnering with operating teams across commercial, finance, and supply chain, the team blends generative AI with traditional AI/ML forecasting and operations research to optimize cash flow, defend EBIT, and put supply chain decisions where they ultimately land: on the financial statements.
A finance native by background, Sam built McKesson’s Finance and Supply Chain AI practice from the ground up — improving cash flow by 25% and implementing digital twins that today manage $20B in inventory. That finance-first lens shapes how he builds and how he leads. Much of his current focus centers on simulation-based optimization as the bridge between supply chain and finance — an approach that retires the simplifying assumptions most planning tools still rely on, the ones that quietly fail when product portfolios are imbalanced and correlated. Sam holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California and a Master of Accounting from the University of Dallas.
